In other news: Rupert Murdoch’s company settles phone hacking cases

• Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers has apologized and paid more than $1 million in damages to 37 victims who settled their lawsuits in the tabloid phone hacking scandal, reports AP. Details of the settlements were disclosed in a London court Thursday: Actor Jude Law received almost $200,000; his ex-wife, publicist and personal assistant were also compensated. (His ex-girlfriend Sienna Miller already received $150,000.) Cases still pending: Singer Charlotte Church and Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell.
