Randy Wittman’s first road win

It’s already been a season of memorable Wizards quotes, from “wicked pixels” to “diaper breath,” from “This is your captain, Andray Blatche,” to “when I see them pull out a cigarette, I’ve got to take it out of their mouth.”

But I’m not sure there’s been a better quote than this one, from Randy Wittman, following Saturday’s win in Charlotte.

“First win on the road,” Wittman said, according to Michael Lee’s game story. “Ha, ha, ha, hey.”

I mean, this was a team that had won just 3 of its past 50 road games, entering the trip to Carolina. And now Wittman, in three games, has won as many as Flip Saunders did in 17 tries. Ha ha ha hey, indeed.

It wasn’t all rainbows and lollipops, though. Wittman had to sweat this one out until the final missed three-pointer, and the final celebration, which led to some great images.

Like the above, from @RecordsANDRadio. This, frankly, is a face we’ve all made more than once while watching the Wizards this season.

Or this one, from @tjackson85, which conveys the same basic message.

Of course, based on the team’s pre-game festivities, you should have figured that things would wind up ok. Just what is JaVale McGee doing in there to cause such mirth?

Whatever it was, it worked, leading to this severe face of celebration.

There was likely more celebration than is typically seen when beating a sub-.200 team. But then again, 3-for-50 was a pretty bad run of road misery. So might as well crack a smile. Small one, anyhow.

And, um, start autographing shoes not 15 seconds after the win was sealed, before the high fives have all been fived. (Via @GheorgheTheBlog)
